The eight channel Marc A is an unrivaled low-priced and reliable audio system for the communication with the popular ADAT systems. I use it very succefully with a Silver Face ADAT (when I record to ADAT which I only use if recording away from the studio now). It is part of the Maian Marc family of cards and so can be chained to the other card via a small ribbin cable which you can buy from Marian. I used it tied to a Marian Marc Midi 8 card which there is also a review for. The sound qulity was good but you would expect that from a digital transport card so all set and done the sound transfered to the PC is only as good as the quality that was recorded by the ADAT. The effective hardware design with no-interrupt architecture and a continuously enhanced high speed driver suite provide a undisturbed operation and minimal latency values in all software surroundings. This makes the Marc A particularly suitable for working with software instruments and software samplers.
Start-stop synchronisation of all in- and outputs, sample exact transfer on all channels make the Marc A a perfect partner for ambitious harddisk-recording, as well.

8 channel ADAT I/O
The optical digital I/Os work in the popular ADAT format. On eight channels each, data can be transmitted with up to 24 Bit and 48 kHz.
The card can run in record slave and play master simultaneously. This way the card can operate as clock master and record at the same time
Multi-card-operation/cascading
The Marc A is capable of easily being cascaded to other marian audio systems. It only needs a flatband SyncBus cable. This way up to four members of the marc-series can be combined to a affordable multi-channel system, in which only one driver manages the controlling of all parameters of the same Marc-type. In connection with the syncbus it takes care for perfect synchronisation of all individual systems and makes all marc systems available to one ASIO-software application.

The continually improved and expanded multi-client driver for ASIO, GSIF 2, WDM with kernel streaming and real, non emulated DirectSound support, provide minimal latency values for all software surroundings. Modular and clear driver dialogues enable the manipulation of many parameters and the display of all in- and outputs. That includes exact level metering, flexible monitoring and synchronisation settings.
